What is Migraine Escape®?
What are migraines?
A survey in Australia conducted by Stollznow Research in 2011 titled 'Migraines in Australia' found 12 % of women and 6% of men suffered migraines, with another 50% suffering in silence because they felt neither their doctor or family believed in their pain. That means 27% of the population suffers migraines! The survey also found that 83% of migraineurs were dissatisfied with their current medication.
Migraine Escape® founder Michael Dale says, "When I begin talking about Migraine Escape I know immediately whether I am talking to a sufferer or not, even before they tell me they are a sufferer. The body language and facial expressions immediately convey they know first hand what the pain is like. Furthermore, during the past 5 years of development, when I have discussed Migraine Escape with random groups of people, migraineurs appear to be 1 in 4, which would tend to validate those statistics. The World Health Organisation classifies migraines as the most expensive brain disorder in the world, both in terms of lost productivity and the money spent of treatment and medications, yet despite those statistics, less money is spent on migraine research than many other far less debilitating illnesses."

How does Migraine Escape® work?
Is Migraine Escape® right for me?
During our pilot clinical trials, Migraine Escape® was effective in preventing the migraine from developing in 97.2% of cases when applied upon the very first sign of an impending migraine, an almost unprecedented outcome in modern pharmaceutical testing.* Chronic sufferers came to experience fewer pains after using it for a month.*
Migraine Escape®, like any treatment, has different effects on different people. For whatever reason, it does not work for some people nor for some migraine events. We have found that the most common reason for low efficacy is improper application e.g. 1. late application or 2. the application area not being free of makeup, moisturiser or sunscreen, which prevents quick absorption through the skin.
We therefore recommend our users follow our usage guidelines and develop their own application protocol, however if you subsequently find Migraine Escape® provides you with no pain relief and you are dissatisfied with your product, we will be happy to refund your purchase in full within 30 days, no questions asked. Please refer to our refund policy for details.
Is Migraine Escape® safe?
Being a concentrated topical application, Migraine Escape® can cause skin irritation for people with sensitive skin.
TGA requires the following warnings to be included on the packaging: If symptoms persist, consult your healthcare practitioner. Individuals taking anticoagulants or at risk of bleeding problems should seek medical advice before applying Migraine Escape®. For external use on unbroken skin only. Not to be taken. Avoid contact with eyes. Keep out of reach of children.
Women who are pregnant, should seek the advice of their medical practitioner before using Migraine Escape®.
Ginger may interact with the chemicals found in prescription and over-the-counter medicines. If you take any of the following medicines, you should talk to your health care provider before using ginger or ginger-based products:
- Blood-thinning medications: Ginger may increase the risk of bleeding. Talk to your doctor before taking ginger if you take blood thinners, such as warfarin (Coumadin), clopidogrel (Plavix) or aspirin.
- Diabetes medications: Ginger may cause a reduction in blood sugar, which can raise the risk of developing hypoglycemia or low blood sugar level.
- High blood pressure medications: Ginger may cause a reduction in blood pressure, which can raise the risk of low blood pressure or irregular heartbeat.
Are there any side effects?
That said, as a highly concentrated ginger extract, the properties associated with ginger are intensified in Migraine Escape®. This applies to both the medicinal/analgesic properties and side effects.
In small doses, ginger has few side effects. These include dermatitis, skin rash, gas, heartburn, upset stomach and vomiting. Higher doses of ginger (e.g. 5 grams or more a day) may increase the chance of side effects, and 1x regular-sized application (6 swipes) of Migraine Escape® equates to approximately 2.5-3 grams of ginger.
The primary/most common side effect of Migraine Escape® is a heat sensation on the skin at the site of application. The severity varies with the individual. People with sensitive skin may want to try a smaller amount initially to test for any reaction.
Migraine Escape® will also sting if it gets in the eyes, so make sure to wash your hands after use.
We advise not applying more than 24 swipes of Migraine Escape® in a 24 hour period (e.g. a maximum of 4 regular-sized applications of 6 swipes each per 24 hours). Overuse may lead to symptoms including an increase in vomiting, increase in migraine-associated pain, increased skin sensitivity and nose bleeding. If you are particularly sensitive to any types of medication or inputs, you may also have an increased risk of these side effects.
Some people meanwhile may find the scent of Migraine Escape® discomforting.
How many bottles should I purchase?
Chronic migraine sufferers who use Migraine Escape® as a preventative apply it around 4 times a day, using one bottle per week; however with the passage of time the frequency of migraine events should be reduced such each bottle also lasts longer. Some of our customers prefer to have two bottles, keeping one at home and the other with them at all times.
How should I take Migraine Escape®?
When using it as an acute treatment, we recommend you apply Migraine Escape® at the first sign of the impending migraine event. Being a topically-applied treatment, it can only be absorbed if the skin is clean, so first remove any makeup, moisturizer or sunscreen.

Is Migraine Escape® backed by science and clinical testing?
In the development of Migraine Escape®, IHP's advisory team consisted of both medical and chemistry experts in their respective fields from around the world. This included world renowned Professor Alan Bensoussan, Head of Complementary Medicine at University of Sydney, regarding our discovery and how to proceed with more formalised trials. Pilot Clinical Trials were conducted in four phases on a total of 132 patients, both male and female ranging in age from 10 to 78.
Migraine Escape® has subsequently received listing approval from the Australian Government Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) as a Complementary Medicine (listing code AUST L 231904), while the extraction process is officially registered as a patent application with the World Intellectual Property Office in Geneva, Switzerland. Please note that the product has not been assessed nor endorsed by the US FDA.
